Joe Poelzer

Cedarville University graduate Joe Poelzer is the seventh head coach in the history of the Yellow Jacket men’s golf program and has held the position since 2011.

The Poelzer name is nothing new to Cedarville golf. Joe’s older brother, Mike, played for the Yellow Jackets from 1999 through 2002.

Golf has been part of Joe Poelzer’s life despite not playing competitively in college. He followed a high school golf career by gaining experience in the industry with various duties at multiple courses.

Poelzer has worked in his home state of Wisconsin at such renowned courses as Whistling Straits and Blackwolf Run. He also served at Sea Island Golf Resort in Georgia as well as the Country Club of the North in Beavercreek which is one of the Yellow Jackets’ home courses.

Poelzer, a 2007 graduate of the University with a degree in psychology, is also a resident director on campus. He is completing a master’s degree at the University of Dayton.

Joe is married to Alicia (Christman), who is also a 2007 CU grad. They reside in Cedarville with their son, Ian Joseph, born August 6, 2013.
