Glen Duerr

Dr. Glen Duerr

Dr. Glen Duerr has been an assistant coach with the Yellow Jackets since 2012.

Duerr was born and raised in England, moved to Canada as a teenager, and then played soccer collegiately at the University of Western Ontario where he obtained numerous individual and team honors. He was part of a Mustangs squad that won the 1999 Canadian National Championship.

Duerr was an Ontario-West All-Star Second Team selection in both 2000 and 2002. He was also presented the 2002 Ontario Golden Boot Award after ranking fourth in Canada in scoring overall.

Duerr played semi-professionally for several years in virtually every minor league in North America with stops in Ontario, British Columbia, and Oregon. He played most recently for the Cleveland City Stars in 2007 in the USL-Pro system.

Duerr went on to become a broadcaster on SportsTime Ohio (and Fox Soccer Channel) for City Stars games in 2008 and 2009. He currently doubles as the Yellow Jackets’ lead play-by-play voice for video stream broadcasts on Stretch Internet.

With Ambassadors Football and Athletes in Action, Duerr has also enjoyed the honor of traveling the world playing soccer against national teams and youth national teams across Asia, Central America, and the Caribbean to engage people on critical questions of faith, life, and sport.

Dr. Duerr serves as Assistant Professor of International Studies in the Department of History and Government at the University. He has a B.A. (Honors) from the University of Western Ontario, an M.A. from the University of Windsor, and a Ph.D. from Kent State University. His research interests include European Politics, nationalism, and international relations.

Glen and his wife, Rebecca, reside in Beavercreek. Their son, Declan, was born in February, 2014.
