Former Yellow Jacket player Luke Marietta joins the coaching staff to work with the goalkeepers. He was on Todd Beall’s staff at Geneva for the 2009 campaign.
Marietta was a two-year varsity player at Cedarville with his most prolific season coming in 2005. He started 19 of 20 matches in goal for the 15-4-1 Yellow Jackets while posting a school-record 0.87 goals against average and a record-tying eight shutouts..
Marietta was named to the NCCAA All-America First Team. He was also an NAIA Region IX, NCCAA Midwest Region, and American Mideast Conference First Team selection.
Marietta played professionally one season for the Cleveland City Stars, a member of the United Soccer League Second Division. The Mansfield, Ohio product was an All-Ohio Division III First Team goalkeeper during his prep career at Mansfield Christian High School.
Marietta has been involved at multiple levels of soccer during his brief coaching career. He was an assistant coach at Mansfield (Ohio) Ontario High School, has worked extensively in club soccer as well as Ambassadors in Sport, and has been an Olympic Development Program instructor/coach.
Marietta is wrapping up his degree in business administration. Luke and his wife, Katie (Mariani), a former Lady Jacket soccer player and CU graduate, were married June 4, 2010 and reside in Xenia.
