Cedarville University Yellow Jackets

Kevin Bender is a four-year player for the Yellow Jackets.....enters his third season as the starting goalkeeper.....started all 20 matches as a junior logging all but 18 minutes.....registered a 1.21 goals against average with seven shutouts to match his career high.....his 15 shutouts rates second all-time at CU behind Matt Reid (17).....stopped four shots in a 1-0 win over AMC champion Roberts Wesleyan.....earned AMC honorable mention recognition.

2008 - Put together a solid sophomore season after assuming the goalkeeping duties.....played every minute of all 19 matches with a 1.39 goals against average.....registered seven shutouts which ranks third at CU for a single season.....allowed one goal or fewer 13 times.....stopped three shots in a 0-0 double overtime draw at NAIA Final Four participant Mount Vernon Nazarene.....honorable mention by the NCCAA Midwest Region and American Mideast Conference.

2007 - Played behind senior keeper John Norton as a freshman, but was impressive in his two varsity appearances.....made his collegiate debut in the season opener posting a shutout with two saves in a 1-0 win at longtime rival Wilmington.....played the entire second half at NAIA #11 Ohio Dominican and held the Panthers scoreless with three saves in a 3-0 setback.....also played on the junior varsity team.

High School - Homeschool graduate who played three years of soccer at New Covenant Christian and one year at Cedar Crest High School.....earned all-league second team honors.....posted a 1.21 goals against average with five shutouts as a senior.....participated in two years of volleyball at Cedar Crest.

Personal - Dean’s List student as a computer engineering major at Cedarville University.....born 12/8/88 in Harrisburg, PA.....son of David and Rosanne Bender.....twin brother, Jason, is a fourth-year player for the Yellow Jackets.....has an older brother, Craig.
