Cedarville University Yellow Jackets

Matt Niemiec is a four-year member of the Yellow Jackets and will serve as a team captain.....fourth year academically at CU and his third on the soccer field.....NCCAA All-America Second Team selection as a junior after leading the team in scoring with 11 goals and five assists for 27 points.....tied for 2nd in the American Mideast Conference in goals scored and tied for 3rd in points.....started all 20 matches.....voted to the All-NCCAA Midwest Region Team and All-AMC Second Team.....named to the Grove City All-Tournament Team upon scoring both goals in a 2-1 win over Westminster and assisting on the winner of a 2-0 result against the hosts.....played a part in every tally of a 3-2 win at Wittenberg with two goals and an assist.....also scored twice in a 3-0 AMC result at Daemen.....credited with the game winner and added an assist in a 2-0 decision at Marian.....scored CU’s first goal in a 2-2 draw against NAIA #3 Notre Dame.....NAIA and NCCAA Scholar-Athlete.

2008 - Paced the Yellow Jackets in scoring in 2008 with 12 goals and three assists for 27 points.....tied for 5th in the AMC in goals scored and rated 7th in points.....All-NCCAA Midwest Region Team selection.....voted to the All-AMC Second Team.....registered three two-goal performances.....had two goals and an assist in a 6-0 win versus Shawnee State.....netted two scores with an assist in a 3-3 draw with Spring Arbor.....also had two goals against Bethel.....tallied his first collegiate goal in a 1-0 victory over Southern Wesleyan.

2007 - Started the first three matches of his rookie campaign.....sat out the rest of the season with an injury and earned back the year of eligibility after being granted a medical hardship by the NAIA.

High School - Produced a stellar career at Zeeland East High School.....played four seasons and was a three-year letter winner.....stellar senior year in which he piled up a school-record 35 goals and 17 assists.....his 35 goals tied for third most in the state.....owns school marks for most goals scored in a game (5) and career (41).....three-time all-area and all-district selection.....two-time all-conference choice and Team MVP.....earned all-state and all-region accolades as a senior.....member of the West Michigan Fire Juniors premier squad that placed among the top four teams in the State Cup in each of the past two seasons.....played three years of basketball with one letter.

Personal - Dean’s List student as an electrical engineering major at Cedarville University.....plans to pursue a master’s degree in optical engineering at the Air Force Institute of Technology.....President’s Scholar.....born 12/27/88 in Holland, MI.....son of Robert and Anne-Marie Niemiec.....younger brother, Aaron, is a sophomore on the Yellow Jacket tennis team while younger brother Joe is a freshman distance runner at CU.....has another younger brother and a younger sister.
