Biography
Matt Brumbaugh is in his fourth season with the Yellow Jackets.....returns to hold down the #1 spots in singles and doubles.....three-time NCCAA All-American upon being a repeat first team selection.....voted to the G-MAC Second Team.....posted an 8-7 singles record as a junior while playing in the top two spots.....registered nine wins at #1 doubles with eight of those teaming up with Jonathan Class.....NCCAA Scholar-Athlete.
2016-17 - Selected to the NCCAA All-America First Team.....posted a 13-12 record in singles.....part of ten doubles victories, eight of which were in the #1 spot alongside Jonathan Class.....G-MAC Academic Team
2015-16 - Turned in a successful rookie campaign.....assembled a 14-9 record playing in the #1 singles position.....added a 15-11 doubles mark - 11-10 at #1 and 4-1 at #2.....NCCAA All-America Second Team selection.....voted to the G-MAC Team .....G-MAC Freshman of the Year.
High School - Produced a decorated tennis career at Milton-Union High School.....three-time all-state honoree.....earned first team recognition as a senior and was twice a second team performer.....four-time All-Area First Team and All-Southwestern Buckeye League First Team.....Dayton Area Division III Player of the Year.....set school records for most singles victories in a season and a career.....guided team to four league titles.....SWBL Golden Racquet Academic Award.....played four seasons of basketball with three letters.....All-SWBL First Team as a senior and participated in the SWBL All-Star Game.....All-District 9 selection and played in the District All-Star Game.....graduated with academic honors.
Personal - Chemistry major at Cedarville University.....born 9/13/96 in West Milton, Ohio.....son of Steve and Jennifer (Smith) Brumbaugh.....father played tennis for the Yellow Jackets (1986-90), owns the school’s all-time record for singles victories (118), and is in the CU Athletic Hall of Fame.....mother played tennis for the Lady Jackets (1990-92).....grandfather, Norris Smith, is also a member of the CU Athletic Hall of Fame.....younger brother, Philip, is a sophomore tennis player with the Yellow Jackets.....has another younger brother and a younger sister.
