Cedarville University Yellow Jackets

Joseph Cathey wraps up his Yellow Jacket career on the track in the distance events.....saw action in six varsity cross country meets and was among CU’s top five finishers each time.....Jackets’ top finisher in the Friendship Invitational placing 4th overall in 25:58 for the 8K.....finished 46th of 310 in the All-Ohio Championship in 26:10.

2010-11 - AMC runner-up in the outdoor 5,000 meters in 15:46.26.....notched a career-best mark of 15:27.84 at the Cincinnati Open.....placed 5th in the NCCAA Outdoor 5K.....competed in three indoor meets.....improved to become CU’s #3 cross country runner on a team that placed 15th in the NAIA.....burned the 8K at the NAIA Great Lakes Invitational in a career-best 25:34 to place 21st of 313 runners.....earned All-AMC Second Team honors finishing 9th in 25:39.....Jackets’ #2 finisher at the NAIA in 26:19 to place 77th of 326.

2009-10 - Placed 9th in the NCCAA indoor 3K in a career-best 9:05.59.....focused on the 5K outdoors and posted a season-best 15:37.94 at the Cincinnati Invitational.....competed in all eight varsity cross country meets as a sophomore.....turned in a season-best time of 26:48 to place 29th of 178 at the Friendship Invitational.....placed 25th in the NCCAA in 27:19.....Cedarville’s #4 finisher at the NAIA Nationals.

2008-09 - Placed 7th in the AMC 5,000 meters in a season-best 15:48.12 during the outdoor track season as a freshman.....saw limited action in three meets during the indoor campaign.....appeared in six varsity cross country meets as a rookie.....turned in a season-best time of 26:20 at the Cedarville Open which placed 12th overall.....finished 50th of 228 competitors at the Aquinas Invitational in 26:23.....CU’s #3 runner and placed 8th overall at the Friendship Invitational in 26:42.

High School - Assembled an outstanding career at Calvary Christian High School.....four-year letter winner in track and cross country.....two-time All-Pinellas County performer in cross country.....invited to compete in the Foot Locker Nationals.....three-time region and state qualifier.....district champion and placed 14th in the state.....Class 2A state champion on the track in the 3,200 meters with a time of 9:26.....named Pinellas County Runner of the Year.....played one season of soccer.

Personal - Psychology major at Cedarville University.....born 1/22/90 in St. Petersburg, FL.....son of Thomas and Gail Cathey.....has an older sister and two older brothers.
