Cedarville University Yellow Jackets

Sammy Starr is a four-year sprinter for the Yellow Jackets.....part of record-setting 4 x 100 meter relay team that set a new outdoor school mark of 41.69 seconds in the NAIA Championship semifinals.....foursome won the NCCAA outdoor title and the AMC crown.....NCCAA Indoor All-American with runner-up finishes in the 400 meters and 4 x 400.....set school record in the indoor 60 meter dash of 7.15 seconds at Findlay.....NCCAA Outdoor All-American in the 4 x 100 and 4 x 400.....AMC champion in the 400 meters in 49.97.....member of 4 x 100 and 4 x 400 AMC title teams.

2008 - Placed 4th in the NCCAA outdoor 400 meters in 49.55 seconds and was 5th in the AMC Championship in 49.78.....notched a career-best time of 49.50 to win the Cedarville Challenge.....part of 4 x 400 meter relay team that qualified for the NAIA Outdoor Championship and turned in a season-best time of 3:18.24 in the prelims.....saw limited action in two meets during indoor season.

2007 - Finished 6th in the NCCAA indoor 55 meter dash in 6.67 seconds.....placed 6th in the NCCAA outdoor 400 meters in 50.37.....participated in the indoor 400 at the NAIA Championship.....also posted season-bests of 11.24 in the outdoor 100 meter dash, 22.80 in the outdoor 200, 23.25 in the indoor 200, and 50.40 in the indoor 400.

High School - Two-year letter winner in track & field at Wilsonville High School.....member of Oregon AAA state championship squad.....part of 4 x 100 meter relay and 4 x 400 meter relay teams that won state titles.....placed 4th in the 200 meter dash.....earned district championships in all three events.....had personal bests of 11.3 seconds in the 100 meter dash, 22.75 in the 200, and 52.06 in the 400.....played four years of soccer with two letters.....also participated in baseball for two seasons.

Personal - Mechanical engineering major at Cedarville University.....born 9/15/87 in Thousand Oaks, CA.....son of Scott and Tina Starr.....younger sister, Kelsey, is a freshman on the track team at Point Loma Nazarene in California.....has another younger sister, Kayleah.
