Kayla Thornsberry returns to the CU women’s softball team for a third season of action as one of the squad’s top hurlers.....posted a 15-9 record in the circle during the 2011 campaign.....led pitching staff in wins (15), appearances (28), starts (22), complete games (17), innings pitched (147), strikeouts (127) and shutouts (3).....registered a second-best 3.24 earned run average.....15 wins in 2011 is tied for fourth highest ever in a CU single season.....is listed in nine categories of Cedarville’s Individual Career Pitching Top Tens.....fired a career-high 11 strikeouts in a 10-3 win against Grace.....hurled all 10 innings in a 5-3 American Mideast Conference verdict at Carlow .....NCCAA Midwest Region All-Tournament Team.....American Mideast Conference First Team selection.

2010 - Appeared in 48 of the 50 games.....made 30 starts at first base.....led team with 25 appearances in the circle to go with 13 starts.....posted a team-best 2.78 earned run average.....finished with a record of 6-7 and team highs in complete games (11) and innings pitched (105 2/3).....tossed a complete game victory including a season-high seven K’s in a 3-1 win over Spring Arbor in the second game of the NCCAA Midwest Regional.....blasted a two-run homer in her first collegiate contest - an 8-0 verdict versus Thiel.....led team with three home runs.....posted a team-high 216 putouts..... committed six errors on the year for a .977 fielding percentage.....named to the NCCAA Midwest Region All-Tournament Team.

High School - Produced a successful softball career at St. Marys Memorial ......four-year letter winner.....team finished runner-up in the 2007 Ohio Division II state tournament.....garnered league, sectional, district and regional banners.....All-Ohio First Team as a sophomore..... earned All-Ohio Second Team honors in 2009.....two-time Western Buckeye League Player of the Year.....tossed seven no-hitters during prep career.....holds single season school records for wins, ERA, strikeouts and shutouts.....two-time participant in the Northwest District All-Star game.....member of 2008 ASA Gold National Championship team.....earned three letters in basketball and one letter in volleyball.
