Cedarville University Yellow Jackets

Shelby (Miller) Young is in her third year with the CU Lady Jacket softball program.....started all 58 games last season including 53 in left field.....team’s second-best hitter with a .337 batting mark.....also ranked second in base hits (62) and runs batted in (39).....posted a third-high 77 total bases and a .418 slugging percentage.....plated a fourth-best 31 runs in 2012.....tallied a second-best 17 multiple hit games including three three-hit outings.....ranked third on the squad with a .341 batting average with runners in scoring position.....knocked in four runs including a home run and two runs scored in a 17-2 win at Lake Erie.....drove in three runs in games against Huntington, Notre Dame OH and West Virginia State, produced a nine-game hitting streak during the 2012 campaign.....tied for first all-time at CU with 58 games played in a single season.....rates third all-time with 184 at bats in a season.....62 hits and 39 RBI’s in 2012 are fifth-best all-time at Cedarville.....a career batting average of .347 is ninth all-time in CU softball history.....named to the National Christian College Athletic Association All-Tournament Team.....NCCAA Midwest Region Team.....NCCAA Midwest Region All-Tournament Team.....Ohio Independent Championship (OIC) honorable mention.

2011 - Started 52 of the 53 games.....recorded a fourth-best .358 batting average.....third on the team with 39 runs scored.....tallied 55 singles during the campaign - the second most ever in a single CU season.....second on the squad with 18 stolen bases.....scored a season-best four runs in one game - a 10-5 win over Spring Arbor in the NCCAA Midwest Regional.....NCCAA Midwest Region All-Tournament Team.....member of the American Mideast Conference First Team.

High School - Produced a two-sport career at Center Grove High School.....four-year softball letter winner.....member of the 2009 Class 4A State of Indiana championship team - the school’s record-setting fifth state title.....scored team’s second run in 2-0 state final verdict over West Lafayette Harrison.....team completed the 2009 season with a 33-3 record....four-time all-conference academic selection.....participated in one season of basketball.....one-year all-league academic choice.

Personal - Nursing major at Cedarville University.....born 10/28/91 in Beach Grove, IN.....daughter of Don and Teresa Miller....married Lance Young on August 13, 2011.....has two older sisters of which, Sydney, was a member of the Lady Jacket softball team in 2011 after transferring from NCAA Division I Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis.
