Lori Huckaby is in her fifth year as an assistant coach on Kirk Martin’s staff. She came to Cedarville University from Hudsonville, Mich. where she was an assistant basketball coach to her brother, Scott, at Freedom Baptist High School for two seasons.
Huckaby has 13 years of teaching and coaching experience at the high school level. As a head varsity coach, she compiled career records of 109-73 in basketball, 110-35 in volleyball over six years, 49-21 in four years of softball, and 41-8-3 in four years of field hockey.
Huckaby was at Timberlake Christian School in Lynchburg, Va. from 1995-98 where she was the head girls coach in basketball, volleyball, and softball. She spent 1992 through 1995 at Greenbrier Christian Academy in Chesapeake, Va. serving as head girls volleyball coach and she was an assistant in basketball and softball. She began her coaching career as the varsity girls basketball and field hockey coach at Baptist High School in Haddon Heights, N.J. from 1988-92 where she captured Tri-State Christian championships in both sports.
Huckaby was an NCCAA Division II All-American point guard during her playing career at Baptist Bible College in Clarks Summit, Pa. where she graduated as the Defenders’ third all-time leading scorer with 1,554 points. She holds the school record for most assists in one game (17), most assists in a season (219), and the highest assist per game average (9.5).
Three times Huckaby was selected to the All-North Atlantic Christian Conference First Team and was a two-time MVP. She led her team to three NCCAA National Tournaments where she was also named to the National All-Tournament Team.
Huckaby, who is an Instructor of Exercise and Sport Science, is a 1987 graduate of BBC where she earned a degree in Bible/Secondary Education Physical Education. She later earned a Master of Education/Sports Management degree in 2001 from Lynchburg College in Virginia. Lori resides in Cedarville with her two dogs.
