Biography
Katie Gillespie joins the Lady Jacket distance running program following a decorated prep career at Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy.....four-time All-Ohio in cross country.....2008 Division II state champion in 18:01 for the 5K while leading the Royals to the team title.....placed 4th overall as a junior in 18:29 with CVCA finishing as the runner-up.....ran in the Division III state meet her first two years placing 3rd as a freshman and 6th as a sophomore.....four-time Most Valuable Runner in cross country of the Principals Athletic Conference.....placed 46th of 198 competitors at the 2008 Nike Cross Nationals in Portland, OR.....personal-best cross country 5K was 17:33.....guided CVCA to the 2008 and 2009 Ohio Division II track & field crowns.....three-time state champion as a junior in the 1,600 meters (5:02.42); 3,200 (11:00.71); and 4 x 800 relay (9:27.20).....placed 3rd in the 3,200 as a senior and 3rd in the 4 x 800.....four-time honoree of the Akron Touchdown Club.....recognized in 2008 by the Dapper Dan Club of Akron.
Personal - Carries an exercise science major at Cedarville University.....born 6/28/91 in Cuyahoga Falls, OH.....daughter of Jim and Diane Gillespie.....has one older brother and a younger sister.
