Cedarville University Yellow Jackets

Sam Newman is in her third season with the CU women’s soccer squad.....appeared in 16 of the 18 contests last fall including two starts.....registered six shots overall with four on goal.....helped defensive unit post six shutouts and hold opponents to 1.06 goals per game.....Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Academic Team.

2015 - Appeared in nine contests during rookie campaign.....scored first collegiate goal in a 13-0 Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) victory at Salem International University.....added a pair of assists on goals scored against G-MAC foes Kentucky Wesleyan and Ohio Valley.....attempted nine shots on the year with five on goal (.556).

High School - Four-year letter winner in soccer at Watkins Memorial High School.....2014 team captain and Team’s Most Valuable Player.....member of two Licking County League (LCL) Championships in 2013 and 2014.....two-time LCL Second Team choice.....2012 Ohio Capital Conference honorable mention.....2015 LCL Scholar-Athlete.....one-year varsity basketball letter winner.....class Valedictorian.....National Honor Society student.

Personal - Dean’s List student as a pharmaceutical sciences major at Cedarville University.....born 1/30/97 in Granville, OH.....daughter of James and Sherry Newman.....older brother, Jared, was a four-year member of the Yellow Jacket soccer team.
