Vince Peters returns for his 18th season as an assistant coach in the Cedarville University track & field program specializing in the race walk.

During Peters’ tenure 12 Yellow Jacket walkers have earned NAIA All-America honors, three have won NAIA national championships establishing one NAIA and American record. One athlete qualified for and competed in the Olympic Trials while another participated in the World

University Games. Both are now in Cedarville University's Athletic Hall of Fame.

Peters has 30 years of high school coaching experience with the last 27 at running powerhouse Yellow Springs High School. He is the head boys and girls cross country coach for the Bulldogs, head girls track & field coach and the assistant coach for the boys team.

Throughout his involvement at Yellow Springs, he has been responsible for the middle and long distance runners of both genders. His athletes have won state titles in both cross country and track, establishing five state high school records in the process and posting the fastest mile ever run by an Ohio high school athlete (Sam Borchers - 4:03.33). His athletes have also won National High School Championships in the one mile walk and the one mile run.

Peters is the guiding force behind the Miami Valley Track Club which is the premier age group club in the Dayton/Springfield area with national club titles for cross country in 1991 and 1997. So far, five of his club's athletes - all walkers - have participated in the Olympic Trials. Top performer to date has been Matt Boyles with a 2nd-place finish in both the 20k and 50k in 2008.

Peters served eight years as President of the Ohio Association of USA Track & Field. Since 2003 he has directed the USA's national program in the race walk as Chairman of USATF's National Race Walk committee. Peters is also a member of USATF's Board of Directors and a trustee of

the North American Racewalk Foundation (NARF). Peters is retired from Ball Corporation where he was a manager in the Aerospace division. Peters was inducted into the Dayton Athletics Association Hall of Fame in 2006.

Peters is a 1980 graduate of Wright State University. Vince and his wife, Jennifer, reside in Yellow Springs and have two children.
