Cedarville University Yellow Jackets

Jessica Smith returns for her third season with the Cedarville University track & field program specializing in the distance events.....ran in seven of the eight cross country meets this fall for the NAIA nationally-ranked Lady Jackets.....CU’s top finisher at the NCCAA National Championship with a 20:11 performance to place 40th out of 148 runners.....recorded a season-best effort of 19:52 at the American Mideast Conference Championship.

2009-10 - Participated in three indoor meets last spring.....placed seventh in the 800 meters at the Indiana Wesleyan Invitational with a time of 2:30.82.....registered a 3:28.53 effort in the 1,000 meters to finish third at the Marietta Open.....ran in seven outdoor meets.....season-best time of 2:24.06 in the 800 meters came in the Miami RedHawk Invitational.....placed ninth in the 800 meters at the American Mideast Conference Championship.....NCCAA All-American in the 4 x 800 meter relay as unit finished third at the NCCAA Championship with a 9:28.88 performance - seventh-best all-time at CU.....member of the cross country development team.

2008-09 - Ran in three indoor meets.....earned NCCAA Indoor All-America honors as part of CU’s distance medley squad.....top 800 meter outdoor finish was a third place spot in the Cedarville Collegiate Open with a 2:37.78 effort.....posted a season-best 800 meter time of 2:32.85 at the NCCAA Outdoor Championship..... finished 16th in the 800 meters at the American Mideast Conference Championship (2:33.48).....participated in cross country as a member of the developmental team.

High School - Produced a notable prep sports career at Grace Christian School.....member of the 2007 WVCEA State AA Championship Track team....finished first in the 800, 1600, 3200 and 4 x 400 meter relay at the 2007 and 2008 WVCEA Track Meet....earned three letters in both basketball and volleyball.....2007 volleyball and basketball squads captured 2007 WVCEA State titles.....named MVP of the WVCEA Tournament as a senior.....National Christian Honor Society student.

Personal - Dean’s List student as an exercise science major at Cedarville University.....born 7/7/90 in Huntington, WV....daughter of Charles and Judee Smith....has two older brothers one of which, Jacob, was a two-year member of the CU men’s basketball JV squad.
