Biography
Marla Rice is back for her final season with the Lady Jacket track squad as an NAIA All-American.....contributed 39 individual indoor points as a sprinter.....member of 4 x 400 relay squad that won at the NCCAA Indoor Championship to earn All-America honors.....finished 2nd in both the 200 and 400 meters at Ohio Northern University indoor meet.....placed 2nd in the 800 meters at the Cedarville Outdoor Open.....member of a school record-setting 4 x 100 meter relay unit with a 48.52 performance at the American Mideast Conference Championship.....All-AMC First Team.....earned NAIA Outdoor All-America honors as part of the 4 x 400 meter relay squad that placed 5th with a time of 3:53.03.
2007 - Produced 25.5 points during the indoor and outdoor campaigns..... qualified for the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championship in the 4 x 400 meter relay where the squad posted a time of 3:49.52 which was 5th place and earned NAIA All-America honors..... member of the 4 x 100 meter relay quartet that set a new school record at the NCCAA Outdoor Championship with a 48.53 performance.....also part of the 4 x 400 relay school record-setting squad that produced a 3:49.14 outing in the semifinals of the event at the NAIA Outdoor Championship.....recorded a career-best 26.82 effort in the 200 meters at the Cedarville Outdoor Qualifier to finish in 7th place.....career-best 1:00.50 in the 400 meters came in the prelims at the NCCAA Outdoor Championship.....produced 4-10.25 efforts in the high jump at two separate indoor meets at Ohio Northern.....earned NCCAA All-America Indoor and Outdoor honors.....named to the All-AMC Team as part of the 4 x 400 meter relay team that posted an AMC record-setting 3:56.44.
2006 - Part of two school record-setting 4 x 400 meter relay performances - a 3:59.14 performance at the NAIA Indoor Championship and a 3:55.53 mark to finish 2nd at the NCCAA Outdoor Championship.....joined Audree Goodew, Christina Reyes and Jenna Hakala to set a new standard in the indoor distance medley (12:34.34).....claimed the long jump title (16-0.50) at the Yellow Jacket Outdoor Open.....placed 4th in the long jump at the Rose Hulman Indoor Invitational.....earned NCCAA Indoor All-America honors as part of the 4 x 200 meter relay group that placed 2nd at the NCCAA Indoor Championship..... named to the NCCAA Outdoor All-America Team for the 4 x 400 meter relay.
High School - Produced a successful two-sport high school career.....four-year letter winner in track & field at Wellsboro Area High School.....two-time member of all-conference first team.....two-time track & field MVP and leading scorer.....member of school-record 4 x 100 and 4 x 400 meter relay teams.....finished sixth at the Pennsylvania state meet as a member of the 4 x 100 meter relay squad in 2005.....captured league championships two consecutive seasons in the long jump and 4 x 400 meter relay.....4 x 100 quartet garnered league title in 2005.....four-year letter winner in cross country.....squad earned three consecutive league championships and two district titles.....team posted three consecutive top-five finishes at the state meet - fifth in 2002, second in 2003 and third in 2004.....named honorable mention all-state for sophomore season, second team all-state during junior year and first team all-state honors for her senior campaign.....named the Wellsboro High School Female Athlete of the Year for her senior year......National Honor Society student.
Personal - Carries a biology major at Cedarville University.....born 3/30/87 in Clarksburg, WV.....daughter of Thomas and Melissa Rice.....has one older brother and a younger brother.
