Abbey Buettell

Abbey Buettell was named Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance and Senior Woman Administrator in May, 2022.

She has been at Cedarville University since 2014 and brings valuable experience in administration and discipleship to the Athletic Department.

Buettell’s responsibilities include processing the academic eligibility of all Yellow Jacket student-athletes as well as assisting the athletic director in monitoring compliance with Title IX, Gender Equity, and NCAA Sexual Violence policy.

She provides oversight to athletic department community engagement efforts, advises the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, and oversees the Yellow Jacket Sports Camps.

Buettell transitioned to her new role after serving eight years in the Student Life and Christian Ministry Division at the University.

Among her many duties as a resident director, she supervised 18 staff members initiating planning, programming, and training.

Buettell additionally served as an adjunct professor in The Cove, the University’s academic enrichment center, assisting students in developing strategies for academic and personal success.

She previously spent two years as mission manager at Church of the Resurrection in Wheaton, Ill. from 2012 through 2014.

Buettell graduated from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2011 as a sports ministry / biblical literature major. She earned a master’s in Christian formation and ministry from Wheaton College in 2013.

Abbey and her husband, Stephen, reside in Cedarville with their son, Charlie.

Stephen serves as Director of Dual Enrollment at the University and has been part of the Lady Jacket basketball coaching staff since 2011.
