Greg Smith

Greg Smith is the seventh head coach in the history of Cedarville University women’s volleyball beginning with the 2018 campaign.

He has guided the Lady Jackets to six appearances in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Tournament and  was voted the NCCAA Midwest Region Coach of the Year in both 2020 and 2022.

  • Head Coach at University of Toledo (2009-17)
  • Guided the Rockets to 102 total victories and 51 in the Mid-American Conference
  • UT made four trips to the MAC Tournament
  • Won share of the 2013 MAC West Division title
  • Toledo earned the AVCA Team Academic Award all nine seasons
  • Top assistant and recruiting coordinator at Notre Dame (2006-08)
  • Head coach at Virginia Tech (2000-05)
  • Hokies posted 81 victories overall and 37 conference wins
  • Competed in the Big East Conference from 2001-03 before moving to the Atlantic Coast Conference
  • 2002 Big East Conference Coach of the Year
  • Assistant Coach at Ohio State (1997-99)
  • Assistant Coach at Hofstra (1995-96)
  • Assistant Coach at Indianapolis (1994)

A native of Rochester, Indiana, Smith is a 1990 graduate of Westmont (Calif.) College where he lettered in tennis and earned a bachelor’s degree in business and economics. He earned another bachelor’s in secondary education from the University of Indianapolis in 1994.

Greg and his wife, Erica, reside in Cedarville with their two daughters, Peytan and Reagan, and son, Logan.
