Chris Beals signs on with CU

CEDARVILLE, Ohio (6-20-2006) - Worthington Christian High School standout Chris Beals has signed a letter of intent with Cedarville University with plans to play basketball for the Yellow Jackets. The six-foot guard is the son of Blair and Ann Beals of Westerville, Ohio.

Beals was named to the Ohio Division IV All-State First Team as a senior after averaging 26 points and 7.9 rebounds per game. He graduated as the Warriors' second all-time leading scorer (1,622) and with the top career per game scoring average (17.4). Beals set other school records for most three-point field goals made in a career (239) and most points scored in a season.

Thomas plays key role for Jamaican National Team

CEDARVILLE, Ohio (6-19-2006) - Two-time NAIA All-American and former Yellow Jacket standout Mugabe Thomas helped the Jamaican National Team win the 18th Annual Caribbean Basketball Championship in his home country on June 13-18.

Thomas graduated as only the second player in CU basketball history to surpass 2,000 career points and 1,000 rebounds. [SEE JAMAICA GLEANER - JAMAICA OBSERVER - RADIO JAMAICA]

Thomas named NAIA All-American

CEDARVILLE, Ohio (3-16-2006) - Yellow Jacket senior Mugabe Thomas has been selected to the NAIA Division II All-America Second Team in men's basketball for the second straight year. The 6-foot-4 forward becomes Cedarville's first two-time NAIA All-American.

Thomas averaged team-highs of 19.7 points and 12.0 rebounds per game. His rebounding mark also led the American Mideast Conference. Thomas finished his career with 2,043 points and 1,177 rebounds as only the second player in school history with more than 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds. [NAIA DIVISION II ALL-AMERICA TEAM]

Thomas, Short earn All-AMC honors

CEDARVILLE, Ohio (2-25-2006) - Yellow Jacket senior Mugabe Thomas and sophomore Ryan Short have been selected to the All-AMC South Division Basketball Team for the 2005-06 season. The two were selected in voting by the division coaches.

Thomas was named to the five-member All-AMC South Division First Team. The 6-foot-4 forward leads CU in scoring (19.3 ppg) and rebounding (11.2 rpg). Short, a 6-2 guard averaging 15.9 points, was tabbed to the second team and junior forward Guy Rathmell was honorable mention. [ALL-AMC SOUTH DIVISION TEAM]
