Cedarville drops regional final at Spring Arbor

SPRING ARBOR, Mich. - Top seed Spring Arbor scored the first two goals of the match en route to defeating Cedarville, 4-1, to claim the NCCAA Midwest Region championship. The Lady Jackets end the season at 11-8-2 for their first winning season in four years.
The host Cougars, 14-6 overall, netted goals in the 19th and 37th minutes for a 2-0 advantage at halftime. Senior forward Katie Koch tallied her fourth goal of the campaign just 55 seconds into the second period from Rachel Brownfield to trim the deficit in half.
It remained 2-1 until Spring Arbor clinched the outcome with two more goals in the final 20 minutes. The Cougars held a convincing edge in shots at 23-4 overall and 14-4 on goal. Amber Laing was credited with 10 saves. [STATS]
