NAIA announces cross country qualifiers

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) released the qualifiers for the 54th Annual Men's and 30th Annual Women's NAIA Cross Country National Championships and it includes both Cedarville University teams.

The Lady Jackets, ranked #7 in the final poll, are in as the American Mideast Conference runner-up. The #18 CU men were granted one of eight at-large bids.

The national races will be held at Fort Vancouver Historic Site in Vancouver, Wash., on Nov. 21. The men's 8K will start at 10:30 a.m. PST, with the women's 5K to follow at 11:45 a.m. PST.

The Men's 8K race will also welcome 32 teams, including 23 conference/independent/unaffiliated champion, eight at-large bids and 102 individual qualifiers. Malone (Ohio) will look to claim its third-consecutive men's national title. The past two seasons the Pioneers have won by 57 and 143 points, respectively.

Thirty-two teams, including 25 conference/independent/unaffiliated champions, six at-large bids and 117 individual qualifiers, will run in the women's 5K. Azusa Pacific (Calif.) captured its first women's cross country title a year. Armed as the top-ranked team, the Cougars will look to junior Jacky Kipwambok, who finished second at the national meet a year ago.
