CU hammers Malone in season opener

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Lydia Miller fired in a career-high 22 points to lead five players in double figures as the NAIA Division II #11 Lady Jackets coasted to a 103-50 victory over Malone to open the season in the Cedarville Classic.

The Jackets took control at the outset and blasted out to a 48-22 halftime lead. CU proceeded to shoot 67 percent from the field in the second period to finish with a 53-point cushion.

Miller made 11-of-17 shots from the field for her 22 markers. She added seven rebounds, three assists, and one steal to her performance.

Rachel Hurley tallied 14 points. Aubrey Siemon netted 13 points with a game-high eight rebounds; Alison Lemon had 13 points, three assists, and three steals; and Danielle Spiliotis made her collegiate debut with 13 points.

Lacie Condon came off the bench to dish out a game-high six assists in just 19 minutes of action. Kara Cayton led all players with five steals.

The Lady Jackets hit 44-of-73 shots from the field for 60.3 percent while converting 10-of-12 free throws. They controlled the boards 42-20 and forced the Pioneers into 28 turnovers. [STATS]
