CEDARVILLE, Ohio - The Yellow Jackets had their American Mideast Conference playoff chances dashed with a 3-0 setback to Mount Vernon Nazarene in the regular season finale.
The stakes were high for both teams if they wanted to play in the AMC post-season. Cedarville needed either a tie or a win while the only option for the Cougars was a victory.
The contest was even until the 31st minute when MVNU was the beneficiary of an awkward goal. A corner kick bounced untouched through a crowd and just inside the far post for the only goal the visitors would need.
Scores in the 55th and 66th minutes clinched it for the Cougars, 12-5-1 overall and 6-2-1 AMC. The Yellow Jackets absorbed their second straight home loss to fall to 10-5-3 and 5-2-2 AMC. [STATS]
