CEDARVILLE, Ohio - The Lady Jackets continued their late-season surge and claimed a five-set victory over Northwestern Ohio in the Callan Athletic Center to wrap up an American Mideast Conference Tournament berth.
Cedarville prevailed by scores of 25-16, 22-25, 26-24, 21-25, 15-13. The Lady Jackets have won eight of their last 11 outings to improve to 14-20 overall and 8-4 AMC.
The stakes were simple for Cedarville coming into the AMC finale. A win meant a post-season berth in the five-team league event on Nov. 13-14 while a loss would leave the Lady Jackets on the outside.
Kylee Husak pounded 22 kills and turned aside three blocks to lead the play at the net. Emily Shade provided 16 kills while Lauren Gill added 14 kills and the team’s only two service aces.
Cedarville used a season-high .403 attack percentage as a team to pull out the win. The Jackets had 11 kills in 18 attempts in the decisive fifth set for a .611 accuracy.
Erica Bartholomew passed out 40 assists and Emilie Lynch came off the bench with 15. Heather Kirkpatrick led the back row with 11 digs and handled 35 serve receptions with just one error. UNOH falls to 27-12 and 8-4 AMC. [STATS]
