Lady Jackets win, lose at NCCAA regional

Emily Shade buried 38 total kills in two matches at the NCCAA Midwest Regional.

WINONA LAKE, Ind. - Cedarville defeated host Grace, but dropped its next match against Spring Arbor at the NCCAA Midwest Regional.

The Lady Jackets, who are the defending NCCAA national champion, beat Grace on its floor for the second time this fall 25-18, 25-16, 17-25, 29-27. Emily Shade pounded 18 kills with two blocks to lead the play at the net.

Justine Christiaanse came through with 11 kills while Kylee Husak posted 10 kills and four blocks. Lauren Gill served up four aces, Erica Bartholomew handed out 43 assists, Heather Kirkpatrick had 16 digs, and Casey Hinzman added 14. [STATS]

Spring Arbor ended Cedarville’s hopes for a return trip to the national event with a 25-20, 25-21, 24-26, 25-19 decision over the Lady Jackets.

Shade was a force at the net again with 20 kills. Husak registered 16 kills with three blocks and Gill contributed 11 kills. Bartholomew racked up 50 assists and Kirkpatrick paced five players in double figures in digs with 21. [STATS]

Husak and Shade were named to the six-player All-NCCAA Midwest Region Team. Bartholomew was honorable mention.
