CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Tim Green was a repeat selection to the NCCAA All-America Men's Soccer First Team while Matt Niemiec has been named to the Second Team for the 2009 season.
Green, a junior from Lakeland, Fla., was one of four defenders on the 14-player first team. He is only the second player in the history of the Yellow Jacket soccer program to be a two-time NCCAA All-America First Team choice joining Tom Fite, who was honored in 1984 and 1985.
Green started all 19 matches in which he played in the back for 11-6-3 Cedarville. He helped the defense to seven shutouts.
Niemiec, a junior forward from Zeeland, Mich. with two years of eligibility remaining, paced the team in scoring. He started all 20 matches with 11 goals and five assists for 27 points.
Green and Niemiec were also two of six Yellow Jackets recognized as NCCAA Scholar-Athletes. They were joined by teammates Ryan Chaney, Ryan Connelly, Jason Cunningham, and Luke Griffith.
