CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Head coach Doug Walters has added another important recruit to his 2010 Cedarville University women's volleyball program. Kelsey Christiansen, a 6-0 middle hitter from Heritage Christian High School in Indianapolis, Indiana, recently signed a letter of intent to further her education at Cedarville and play volleyball for the Lady Jackets. She joins high school teammate Stephanie Rogers who had previously signed with CU.
During Christiansen's high school career, Heritage Christian advanced to an Elite Eight and a Sweet Sixteen appearance at the IHSAA State Tournament before losing each time to eventual state champion Muncie Burris. Heritage completed each of the last four years ranked in the Top 10 of the Division 2A State Poll.
Christiansen earned Indianapolis Star All-City and Indiana Volleyball Coaches Association honorable mention recognition in 2009. She also is a member of the Indiana Volleyball Academy club team.
"I chose Cedarville because of the strong Christian environment and the girls on the team are awesome!" noted Christiansen. "Cedarville also has an excellent social work department, so that was a huge factor as well."
Cedarville University head coach Doug Walters is excited to add Christiansen to his 2010 squad. "We are thrilled to welcome Kelsey to our volleyball family. She has made huge improvements in her game over the last two years and we are looking forward to her continuing progress in our program. Kelsey will definitely be competing for court time as a freshman and will be a big contributor in our program over the next four years!"
Kelsey, who plans on majoring in social work, is the daughter of Sven and Stacy Christiansen of Fishers, Indiana.
