CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Brittany Smart, the most decorated player in Lady Jacket basketball history, will resume her professional career in Sweden. The former NAIA Division II National Player of the Year signed a contract to play with the Kvarnby Basketball Club.
This will be the second pro assignment for Smart since graduating from Cedarville University in 2007. The opportunity is projected to be a step up from the two seasons she played with a club in Belgium and the Springfield, Ohio native is anxious to get going.
"I am definitely excited to restart my career in Sweden and get the chance to play again," exclaimed Smart, who is currently residing in Milwaukee, Wis. "I wasn't sure if I would get this opportunity, but I kept working out and I think the Lord is honoring that by giving me another chance to play."
Smart has been recruited as a scoring guard and that fits her game perfectly. She was a scoring machine during her days as a Lady Jacket from 2003 through 2007 in what are considered the "golden years" of CU women's basketball.

MORE THAN JUST BASKETBALL
However, as is typical with Brittany, the experience won't be about the basketball alone.
"Ultimately, though, what I need to keep at the forefront of my mind is what is God's purpose for me in Sweden?" she explained. "Why has He allowed me to continue my career after taking a year off?
"I think as long as I'm asking myself these questions and seeking out the answers God will guide me on the path He has planned out for me. So, we will see what adventures come my way both on and off the court!"
