CEDARVILLE, Ohio - For the second consecutive season, Cedarville University women's tennis is set to play matches in the fall and there is plenty of excitement in the air as the campaign is set to begin. The squad is slated to open the year with a home match on Friday at 4:30 p.m. against Taylor.

CU finished 15-9 last year and grabbed a share of the American Mideast Conference title with a 6-1 mark. NCCAA All-America First Team performers senior Joy Kellogg and sophomore Brooke Johnson are back as the team's top two players. The addition of three talented freshmen to the roster give reason to believe another successful season is attainable.

Head Coach Dr. Dee Morris, beginning her fifth season in the position, expressed her outlook. "I am certainly excited about the upcoming campaign. The team is really looking forward to getting back on the courts."

And Coach Morris sees her two seniors as providing the foundation for success. "Cindy Hoke and Joy Kellogg will serve as co-captains and give the team solid leadership in those roles," added Morris.

Other returnees include Hannah Fleming, Melissa Stoltzfus and Jesika Rupena. Junior Alison Scharold begins her CU tennis career after playing two seasons with the Lady Jacket soccer team.

The 2010-11 fall schedule contains seven matches including five of them taking place at the Johnson-Murdoch Tennis Complex on campus.
