Solid finish gives Cedarville win at NDC

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio - The Lady Jackets ended with a 9-0 run to pull out a 65-60 decision at Notre Dame College for their fifth victory in the last six outings.

The host Falcons rallied from a 12-point deficit in the second half to forge a 60-56 lead with 4:05 remaining. However, Cedarville bounced back by forcing NDC to miss three shots and commit three turnovers the rest of the way.

Kayla Jenerette got the comeback started with a jumper at the 3:05 mark and Deborah Gordon made one-of-two free throws to close within a point.

Jenerette gave CU a 61-60 lead with 1:19 to play by converting both ends of a one-and-one. Raegan Ryan followed with a one-and-bonus with 12.9 seconds left for a three-point margin.

Notre Dame had plenty of time to get off a three-pointer to tie, but coughed the ball up with 3.5 seconds to go. Kara Cayton iced it with two more freebies to account for the final.

Cayton, Jenerette, and Ryan tallied 12 points apiece for the Lady Jackets, 13-7 overall. The three guards combined to go 7-for-10 from outside the arc and 9-for-10 at the charity stripe.

Cayton totaled game-highs of five assists and four steals. Lauryn Robinson pulled down a career-high eight rebounds.

Cedarville made 8-of-11 three-pointers in the first half and led 40-31 at halftime. The visitors shot 47 percent from the field for the game and dropped in 11-of-14 free throws. NDC falls to 10-11.
