Box Score CEDARVILLE, Ohio -
Jacoby Ziegler assisted on all three scores and the top-seeded Lady Jackets established a pair of school records with a 3-0 result over #8 Ohio Valley in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference quarterfinals.
The victory allows Cedarville, 14-5 overall, to host the semifinals on Nov. 7 as well as the championship match two days later. The 14 victories surpassed the previous single-season school record for most wins (13) set by the 2004 squad.
Freshman goalkeeper
Hanna Harris set the other CU record after she was called upon to make four saves in what was her eighth shutout of the year. The mark eclipsed the previous record of seven set by Melissa Fawcett in 2001.
It didn't take long for the Lady Jackets to get on the board in the 3rd minute. Ziegler, who leads the G-MAC and ranks third in the country in scoring, delivered a pass to
Grace Miorelli right in front of the net and she one-timed it for her 10th goal of the season.
The difference remained 1-0 until the 43rd minute. Ziegler ripped a shot that changed directions and the OVU keeper deflected it right to
Elizabeth Cox, who was waiting for the tap in. It was her fifth goal.
Elise Hurley was the beneficiary of another open net in the 80th minute for her third tally. Ziegler stung another shot that the keeper barely turned aside before the finish.
Cedarville will host #4 Ursuline in one semifinal on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.. The other will pit #2 Davis & Elkins against #3 Alderson Broaddus at 5:00. Saturday's championship match will kick off at noon.
