Cedarville opens G-MAC with quick win

Box Score OWENSBORO, Ky. - The No. 2 seed Lady Jackets began defense of their Great Midwest Athletic Conference title with a quarterfinal sweep over No. 7 Davis & Elkins.

Cedarville disposed of the Senators 25-12, 25-16, 25-18 in the second match of the day at Kentucky Wesleyan College.

"This was a great well-balanced match to start the tournament weekend," said Head Coach Doug Walters. "Our offense was very well-balanced with several people contributing.  I thought that our side-out game was very effective today allowing us to keep control of the match on our side instead of playing defense the whole time.

"Now, we need to take a little time to prepare for our big match with Alderson Broaddus tomorrow. We are keeping our focus on one opponent at a time."

Amanda Bell tallied eight kills and 12 digs for the Jackets, 21-14. Hannah Wagner had seven kills and four blocks.

Stephanie Rogers contributed six kills with four blocks while Abby Shelton chipped in six kills.

Maddie Anderson totaled 16 assists, Kristin Cardwell had 13, and Angela Becker came up with 18 digs.

Cedarville faces No. 3 Alderson Broaddus in Friday's first semifinal at 6:00 p.m. EST. The Jackets won the two regular season meetings between the two schools,
