Back-to-back! Lady Jackets retain G-MAC crown

Box Score OWENSBORO, Ky. - Cedarville University is the 2013 Great Midwest Athletic Conference Volleyball Champion!

The Lady Jackets needed just a little more than an hour to sweep host and top seed Kentucky Wesleyan in what was their most impressive performance of the season.

CU rolled over the Panthers 25-17, 25-19, 25-18 to improve their record to 23-14. KWC ends its year at 26-7.

"We picked the right match to put our best performance of the year on the floor," declared Head Coach Doug Walters. "All facets of our game were in sync and the girls played the scouting report perfectly.

"We adjusted very nicely to what KWC was doing last week to get this win. It was great to end the season with our two seniors on the court and give them one final championship. It was a fantastic team effort today!"

What a difference a week makes. Just seven days prior, the Jackets squandered a lead in the fifth set at home to Kentucky Wesleyan giving the Panthers the #1 seed and right to host the tournament.

The third time was indeed the charm. Cedarville's only two regular season conference setbacks came at the hands of KWC.

G-MAC Player of the Year Hannah Wagner buried 11 kills to lead another balanced attack at the net. Stephanie Rogers totaled seven kills with a team-high five blocks. Amanda Bell, Abby Shelton, and Tori Thompson had six kills apiece.

The assist numbers had Maddie Anderson with 16 and Kristin Cardwell with 14. Angela Becker provided 18 digs and Bell added 16.

Cedarville ended the season winning 20 of its final 23 matches.
