Championship Site | HTM Results | PDF ResultsGAMBIER, Ohio - The Lady Jackets won five events with runner-up honors in four others to end up in 2nd place overall at the first Great Midwest Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championship.
Ursuline won the six-team meet at the Kenyon College Toan Indoor Track by piling up 211.50 points. Cedarville finished with 142 while Trevecca was a distant 3rd with 48 points.
Carsyn Koch was victorious in two events. She won the 800 meters in 2:15.47 which is the fifth-fastest time in CU history. The freshman also claimed the top spot in the high jump by clearing 5-feet 3-inches (1.60 meters).
Olivia Esbenshade won the mile in 5:04.39 which rates #10 on the Lady Jackets' all-time list.
Tiera Martinelli was a winner in the pole vault with a mark of 10-6 (3.20m).
The other first place showing was turned in by the distance medley relay foursome in 13:07.58. The group consisted of
Sarah Hoffman,
Molly Bolender,
Jodi Davis, and
Kacy Dunn.
Elsewhere,
Anna Pomento was the runner-up in the shot put at 40-11.50 (12.48m) - the #3 mark all-time at CU.
Mariah Cruise was 3rd at 37-2.50 (11.34m).
The 4 x 400 relay squad of Koch,
Hailey Bredeson,
Christina Gall, and
Valerie Kirk was 2nd in 4:03.44.
Mary Kearney was the 5K runner-up in 18:58.47.
Kirk placed 3rd in the 60 meter hurdles in 9.02 seconds. That mark rates #5 all-time at CU and her 9.12 effort in the prelims ties for #9.
The Lady Jackets grabbed places 2-through-6 in the 3,000 meters.
Kristen Laaman was 2nd in 10:29.51 while
Rachel Groh was 3rd in 10:48.57.
Hannah Gallardo was 3rd in the pole vault at 8-0.50 (2.45m).
Cedarville doesn't return to the track until the outdoor season begins at the Emory Invitational in Atlanta on March 20-21.
