DAY 1 RESULTS
CEDARVILLE, Ohio -
Alaina Spears ran away from the pack to win the 5,000 meters and set a Lady Jacket record at the NCCAA Indoor Track & Field Championship in the Doden Field House.
The senior from Frazeysburg, Ohio turned in a time of 17:19.82 to win the race by nearly 40 seconds.
Spears ran 4.68 seconds faster than her previous career-best set at the 2017 G-MAC Indoor Championship.
The old school record was held by Nicole Santos. She posted a mark of 17:15.31 on an oversized track at the 2009 NAIA Indoor Championship which is slower than Spears' time after conversion.
The distance medley relay foursome was a winner in 12:28.39 which rates #9 all-time at Cedarville. The team consisted of
Rachel Sweeney,
Hanah Johnson,
Carly Rose, and
Grace Norman.
Jessica Barton and
Amanda Edwards tied for third place in the pole vault by clearing 10-5.50.
Lauren Willow was third in the high jump at 5-1.75.
Dallas Baptist has the early lead in the team standings through six events with 45 points. Cedarville has 44 points and McMurry is next with 29.
