Cedarville University Yellow Jackets

Sam Summerlin is a four-year infielder with the Yellow Jackets.....earned a spot on the NCCAA Midwest Region Team as a junior.....one of two players to start all 58 games.....made at least one start at all four infield positions including 36 at shortstop.....ranked third on the team with a .347 batting average.....set a school record with 222 at bats and 77 hits was one shy of the CU mark.....added 10 doubles, 3 triples, 46 runs scored, and 38 RBI’s.....paced the team with 12 stolen bases.....batted .778 (14-for-18) with a runner at third and less than two out.....topped the squad with 27 multi-hit games featuring four three-hit efforts.....registered at least two RBI’s in 10 games.....drove in five runs in a 12-2 victory against Toccoa Falls in the NCCAA National Tournament.....had four RBI’s in a 15-6 win at Kentucky State.

2013 - Started 14 of the first 15 games as a sophomore at shortstop and then suffered a season-ending injury.....batted .302 with two doubles, 11 RBI’s, and 14 runs scored.....went 4-for-5 with five runs scored and three RBI’s in a win at Victory.....registered seven multi-hit games including a three-hit performance in a victory over Walsh.

2012 - Assembled an impressive rookie season by hitting .380 with two doubles, 14 RBI’s, and 14 runs scored.....played in 36 games with 21 starts - 11 at third base and 10 as DH.....finished the season with a nine-game hitting streak.....had two hits in his collegiate debut during a 6-0 win at Clearwater Christian.....stroked three hits against Neumann.....tallied three hits in a 12-9 victory over East Stroudsburg and three more in an 11-1 win vs. Ohio Christian at Dayton’s Fifth Third Field.....handled 36 chances in the field with just one error.

High School - Four-year baseball letter winner at O’Fallon Township High School.....all-state honoree as a senior as selected by the Illinois Coaches Association.....batted .431 with four homers, 42 RBI’s, and 40 runs scored for Team Offensive MVP honors.....All-Southwestern Conference First Team choice and All-Metro Third Team.....played in Illinois State All-Star Game and in the 2011 High School Baseball Showcase at Busch Stadium.....all-conference second team pick as a junior.....graduated as school’s all-time leader in at bats (371) and hits (103).....member of three-time conference championship squad.....team advanced to the IHSA Class 4A state finals as a sophomore placing third.....reached IHSA Elite 8 as a junior.....four-year letter winner on the golf course.....sectional qualifier each year.....two-time Team MVP.....four-time all-conference and three-time all-area performer.
