Cedarville University Yellow Jackets

Clay Watson returns for his fourth season of distance running for the Yellow Jackets.....produced an outstanding cross country campaign in the fall as CU’s #1 runner in his last four outings.....G-MAC runner-up in 25:32 for the 8K.....All-G-MAC First Team.....helped Jackets win their third straight league trophy.....finished 49th of 202 competitors in the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional with a 10K mark of 32:33.....placed 17th of 569 in the All-Ohio Championship in 25:20.

2013-14 - NCCAA Indoor All-American in the 5,000 meters by finishing 3rd in 15:27.54.....best 5K time of the indoor season was 15:09.0 at Youngstown State.....placed 4th in the G-MAC 1,500 meters in 4:09.27.....also competed in the 5K and 10K outdoors.....competed in six varsity cross country meets as a junior and was among the team’s top seven finishers each time.....placed 4th in the G-MAC in 26:10.....repeat All-G-MAC First Team selection.....finished 38th of 199 in the Division II Midwest Regional with a 10K mark of 32:37.....Jackets’ #4 runner in the NCAA Division II Championship in 32:41.

2012-13 - Distance runner on the track as a sophomore.....placed 5th in the NCCAA Indoor 3K in a career-best 8:43.36 and was 7th in the 5K in 15:27.14.....fastest indoor 5K was 15:05.62 at Youngstown State.....finished 6th in the NCCAA Outdoor 10K in 32:27.69.....posted a career-best 10K mark of 30:55.24 at Cincinnati.....ran a career-best outdoor 5K of 15:05.62 at Miami.....ran in six varsity cross country meets.....had a career-best in the 8K of 25:53 to place 26th of 182 at Wisconsin-Parkside.....finished 8th in the G-MAC Championship in 27:02.....All-G-MAC First Team performer.....61st of 158 in the Division II Midwest Regional in a career-best 32:32 for the 10K.....CU’s #4 runner at the NCAA Division II Championship in 31:48.

2011-12 - Focused on the 3,000 meters during the indoor track season.....best time was 8:58.40.....ran the 5K and 10K outdoors.....placed 4th in the Ohio Independent Championship 10K in 32:36.0.....ran in the first six varsity cross country meets as a freshman and was among the team’s top seven five times.....best mark was 26:13 at the Friendship Invitational to place 6th of 95 runners.....finished 68th of 310 in the All-Ohio Championship in 26:25.

High School - Three-sport athlete at Killian Christian High School.....four-year letter winner in baseball and was named all-state as a senior.....member of back-to-back state title teams as a junior and senior.....earned three letters in soccer.....part of four-time state championship program.....played three years of basketball with two letters.

Personal - Exercise science major at Cedarville University.....born 12/20/92 in Atlanta, GA.....married former Lady Jacket distance runner Carolyn Case on Aug. 12, 2013.....son of Greg and Jerry Lynn Watson.....younger sister, Margo, who ran one season at CU, is a junior distance runner at Maranatha Baptist Bible College.
