Biography
Matt Brooker returns for his final season as one of the top distance runners the Yellow Jackets have ever had.....became the school’s first NCAA All-American in any sport during the cross country season.....placed 28th of 248 competitors at the NCAA Division II Championship in 31:08 for the 10K.....guided CU to its second straight 15th-place finish.....placed 4th in the Midwest Regional with a mark of 31:23.....Jackets’ first-ever All-Ohio Intercollegiate champion with an 8K winning time of 24:54.....repeated as Great Midwest Athletic Conference champion in 24:43.....G-MAC Runner of the Year and All-G-MAC First Team.....Appalachian State runner-up in a career-best 24:28.....repeated as Friendship Invitational winner in 24:58.....named to the USTFCCCA Division II Outdoor Region Team for the second straight time.
2012-13 - NCAA Division II Outdoor qualifier in the 10,000 meters as a junior.....placed 16th in 32:22.77.....shattered the school’s 10K record with a mark of 29:52.58 at the Cincinnati Open.....selected to the USTFCCCA Division II Outdoor Region Team.....produced a record-setting cross country campaign.....named the USTFCCCA Division II Midwest Region Runner of the Year.....G-MAC Runner of the Year.....voted the G-MAC Male Athlete of the Year for all sports.....Midwest Region champion with a winning 10K time of 30:35.....placed 41st in the NCAA Division II Championship, one place out of All-America honors, in a career-best 30:26.....G-MAC champion in a season-best mark of 24:34.....individual champion at the Wisconsin-Parkside Invitational and Friendship Invitational.....finished 4th out of 301 runners in the All-Ohio Championship in 24:43.
2011-12 - Sat out the cross country and track & field seasons as a red shirt.
2010-11 - American Mideast Conference champion on the track in the 5,000 meters in 15:26.54.....AMC runner-up in the 1,500 in 3:59.77.....member of conference championship team.....ran in the #1 spot in four of seven outings for the cross country squad .....placed 6th of 313 competitors at Aquinas in a season-best 8K time of 24:56.....AMC runner-up in 25:16.....finished 26th of 263 in the All-Ohio Championship in 25:18.
2009-10 - Member of Patriot League outdoor track & field championship team at Division I Bucknell.....won the 5,000 meter run at Bloomsburg in 14:56.91.....focused on the 3K indoors with a top mark of 8:55.51.....saw action in four varsity cross country meets and was named team’s Rookie of the Year.....posted a season-best time of 26:37 at the Penn State Invitational.....clocked in 27:14 at Duquesne and placed 39th at the Patriot League Championships in 27:55.
High School - Four-year distance runner at Penns Valley High School.....four-time conference champion in cross country and on the track in the 3,200 meter run.....graduated with school records in the 1,600 (4:22) and 3,200 (9:24) meter events.....finished second in the 3,200 meters at the 2009 Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) AA Track & Field meet.
Personal - Computer science major at Cedarville University.....born 9/20/90 in Cincinnati, OH.....married former Lady Jacket All-America distance runner Hannah Lamos on Dec. 16, 2012.....son of Scott and Jane Brooker.....both parents were four-year distance runners at CU.....mother was an NAIA All-American on the track and the first female track & field athlete inducted into the NAIA Hall of Fame.....older brother, Jud, is a 2009 graduate of the University and was a four-year All-America distance runner with the Yellow Jackets.
