The female SUBWAY Athlete of the Week (Jan. 18-24) is track & field freshman Alexa Winik. The 5-6 sprinter from Windsor, Ontario recorded two first-place finishes at the Indiana Wesleyan Classic on Saturday, January 24. She won the 60 meter dash in a school-record time of 7.92 seconds. Winik joined teammates Carolyn Cann, Bethany Davies and Marla Rice to win the 4 x 400 meter relay in 4:00.85. Both performances met the NAIA standards for automatic qualifying to the NAIA indoor national meet. Six schools competed in the non-scoring meet in Marion, Indiana.
