The Courtyard Marriott Springfield Male Athlete of the Week (May 19-25) is track & field pole vaulter Tommy Ansiel. The sophomore from Warrenville, Illinois brought home the pole vault title at the 2019 NCAA Division II Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championship on Thursday, May 23 in Kingsville, Texas. Ansiel cleared a school-record 17-feet 7.25-inches (5.37 meters) to become the second Yellow Jacket to be an NCAA men's national champion.
