Lady Jackets nipped in OT by Indiana Wesleyan

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - NAIA Division II #11 Cedarville erased a 16-point second-half deficit, but #14 Indiana Wesleyan scored the final six points in overtime for an 82-78 win in the final game of the Cedarville Classic.

An 11-point run early in the second half by the visiting Wildcats gave them what appeared to be a comfortable 56-40 advantage. However, the Lady Jackets answered with an 11-point spurt of their own to close to within 60-55 at the 8:05 mark.

Alison Lemon finally drew Cedarville even at 69-69 on a free throw with 1:11 left. After IWU regained the lead with 20 seconds remaining, Lemon forged overtime by hitting a driving lay-up with two seconds to go.

The Jackets surrendered the first five points of OT, but they bounced back with seven straight markers for their first lead since the opening half. Aubrey Siemon hit four straight free throws resulting in a 78-76 lead with 1:47 to play.

The Wildcats, 3-0, took the lead for good with just under a minute left and sealed the outcome with two free throws with 15 seconds on the clock.

Lemon pumped in 21 points and handed out six assists while being named to the six-player all-tournament team. She was joined on the elite squad by Lydia Miller, who finished with 15 points. Caitlyn Brooks added 15 markers and Siemon pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds. [STATS]
