WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - The NAIA Division II #11 Lady Jackets ran off 17 unanswered points early in the second half to key a 67-59 victory over host Northwood in the opening game of the Northwood Classic.
Cedarville shook off the Christmas break rust to forge a 30-25 halftime lead. It remained tight after the two teams traded baskets to begin the second period.
The Jackets then took control while the Seahawks went scoreless for the next seven-plus minutes. Once Danielle Spiliotis flipped in a 10-footer, it finished off a flourish that provided CU a 49-27 bulge with 12:30 left. Northwood could only get as close as the final score.
Alison Lemon finished with a game-high 15 points for Cedarville, 10-3 overall. Aubrey Siemon posted her eighth double-double of the season with 13 points and 13 boards.
Lydia Miller made all eight of her free throws and scored 10 points. Lacie Condon came off the bench with nine points and four steals with Spiliotis and Caitlyn Brooks adding eight points each.
The Lady Jackets shot 48 percent from the field and made 15-of-17 free throws in the decisive second half. They also controlled the boards 24-11 in the final 20 minutes and enjoyed a 46-30 edge for the game. Northwood, 6-5, lost for just the second time in seven home games. [STATS]
