WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - NAIA Division II #11 Cedarville ramped up the defense to deal fellow American Mideast Conference member Point Park an 83-64 setback in the final game of the Northwood Classic.
The two teams played toe-to-toe for the first eight minutes. Rachel Hurley, who drained 4-of-5 shots from beyond the three-point arc, knocked down a trey to give the Lady Jackets the lead for good, 17-16, with 11:45 left. CU finished the half on a 24-7 run for a 38-23 margin at the break.
The Jackets twice built the advantage to as much as 24 points in the second half. Cedarville shot 59 percent from the field in the final 20 minutes and 53 percent for the game while holding the Pioneers to a 29-percent accuracy.
Lydia Miller produced 17 points, nine rebounds, and four assists for the Lady Jackets, 11-3 overall. Hurley finished with 14 points while Tournament MVP Aubrey Siemon came through with her ninth double-double consisting of 11 points and 12 rebounds. Alison Lemon totaled nine points, four assists, and four steals in joining Siemon on the five-player all-tournament team.
Point Park dips to 7-4. The two teams will play their AMC game on the Pioneers' home court on Jan. 30. [STATS]
