Lady Jackets clinch NAIA bid with win over UNOH

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Alison Lemon's triple-double sparked NAIA Division II #3 Cedarville to an 85-70 victory over Northwestern Ohio in the Callan Athletic Center and secured a return trip to the national tournament.

The Lady Jackets, 25-3 overall and 16-1 overall, notched their 17th consecutive victory. The outcome guaranteed them at least a share of the AMC title and the #1 seed in the upcoming AMC Tournament.

Lemon racked up 17 points, 13 rebounds, and 10 assists for Cedarville. Lydia Miller tallied 17 points, Aubrey Siemon recorded her 19th double-double with 14 points and 17 boards, and Rachel Hurley chipped in 12 points.

The Lady Jackets shot 61 percent from the field in the first half resulting in a 45-30 lead at the intermission. UNOH, 18-10 and 10-8 AMC, would not go away thanks to burying 12 three-pointers on the night. The two teams scored 40 points each in the second half.

The three Lady Jackets seniors were recognized after the game on Senior Night. The trio includes Lemon, Lacie Condon, and Julie Utz.

No matter what happens the rest of the regular season or in the AMC Tournament, Cedarville will return to the NAIA Division II National Tournament in Sioux City, Iowa on March 10-16. The conference receives two automatic bids one of which goes to the regular season champion. [STATS]
