Cedarville begins NAIA play with decisive win

SIOUX CITY, Iowa - Alison Lemon and Aubrey Siemon put together double-doubles as the Lady Jackets cruised to a surprisingly easy 75-50 win over Taylor in the opening round of the 19th Annual NAIA Division II National Tournament at the Tyson Events Center. Cedarville faces Briar Cliff (Iowa) in Friday's second round.

The Lady Jackets, one of four #2 seeds in the 32-team field, put the first 13 points of the game on the board and never looked back. A dominating first half resulted in a comfortable 50-23 spread by halftime due much in part to 7-for-15 shooting outside the three-point arc.

Cedarville, 27-5 overall, held the Trojans to 33 percent shooting for the game. The Jackets also enjoyed a 53-27 advantage on the boards.

Lemon scored 19 of her game-high 22 points in the first period. She added 13 rebounds and five assists to her performance.

Siemon racked up her 22nd double-double of the season with 14 points and 12 boards. Rachel Hurley tossed in four three-pointers and finished with 16 points while Caitlyn Brooks chipped in 10 markers. Taylor ends the season, 17-12. [STATS]
