CEDARVILLE, Ohio - The Lady Jackets began their season with a 7-1 win over Geneva on a sweltering afternoon at the Johnson-Murdoch Tennis Complex.
Cedarville grabbed a 2-1 lead after doubles when the top two squads posted 8-0 wins. Notching the points were the #1 tandem of
Lily Schuler and
Brooke Johnson as well as #2
Joy Dice and
Melissa Stoltzfus.
The Jackets rolled through the singles with five wins. Schuler made her collegiate debut at the top spot with a 6-3, 6-2 result. A pair of 6-0, 6-0 decisions were tacked on by #2 Johnson and #3 Dice.
Stoltzfus was a 6-0, 6-3 winner at #4 singles while #6
Maryssa Herbert won her first collegiate match, 6-1, 6-0.
Chelsea Diamond's match at #5 was halted after the first set because of the heat with an index that reached into the upper 90's.
