Box Score LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Lady Jackets used torrid free throw shooting in the second half to defeat WBCA No. 24 Ferris State, 59-51, in the season opener at the Bellarmine Classic.
Cedarville faces the host Knights, a 73-46 winner over Kentucky State, in Saturday's championship game at 7:00 p.m.
Against Ferris State, both teams struggled mightily from the field. CU hit just 15-of-50 shots overall for 30 percent and a slim 19 percent outside the arc by going 4-for-21. The Bulldogs didn't fare any better - 30 percent from the field including 22 percent from long range.
The difference, however, was the charity stripe. The Lady Jackets reversed a 27-24 halftime deficit with a second half free throw clinic.

Kayla Linkous gave CU the lead for good, 39-38, with 10:30 left. They made just three field goals the rest of the way, but hit 14 of their last 15 free throws and 20-of-22 in the second half to pull out the win.
Kayla Jenerette was 8-for-9 at the stripe and finished with 13 points and six assists.
Deborah Chandler hit all five of her freebies and tallied 11 points.
Cedarville ended up 25-of-30 at the line while Ferris State was 10-for-10. The Jackets also had a slim rebounding margin, 42-39.
