Box Score EVANSVILLE, Ind. - Southern Indiana remained unbeaten after downing Cedarville, 75-59, in a non-conference women's basketball contest.
The host Screaming Eagles had to withstand a Lady Jacket comeback in the second half to improve their record to 8-0 on the campaign. CU enters the Christmas break at 7-3.
The Lady Jackets had their last lead, 13-11, with 14:15 to go in the opening period. USI embarked on a 26-9 explosion and eventually held a 39-28 margin at the break.
Becky Orchard keyed a quick start to the second half for Cedarville. She drilled a couple of treys and totaled eight points as the Jackets crept to within 45-42 at the 11:45 mark.
USI netted the next six points and CU got no closer than eight the rest of the way.
"We battled hard the whole game," remarked Head Coach
Kirk Martin. "The difference in the game was USI knows they're good and we are still working at knowing that.
"The tough part of the loss is we know we can play at this level. We've just got to continue to keep getting better and believing in ourselves."
Orchard finished with a career-high 18 points.
Kayla Jenerette scored all 11 of her points in the second half.
