CEDARVILLE, Ohio - The Lady Jackets edged Tiffin, 5-4, at the Johnson-Murdoch Tennis Complex in the first home match of the spring portion of their schedule.
Cedarville had not played anyone since dropping a 6-3 decision to Aquinas on March 8 in Florida. The last time the Jackets played on the home courts was Sept. 22 in a 6-3 win over Ohio Wesleyan.
CU, 7-7 overall, shook off the rust to take a 2-1 lead after doubles. The #2 duo of
Joy Dice and
Melissa Stoltzfus manufactured an 8-6 result.
Maryssa Herbert and
Chelsea Diamond won by the same 8-6 count in the #3 spot.
The two teams split the six singles matches.
Brooke Johnson was a 6-3, 6-2 winner in her customary #2 position. Other points came from #5 Herbert, 6-4, 4-6, 6-4, as well as #6
Lyndsay Stine, 6-4, 6-2.
Tiffin drops to 11-11.
