Kayla Jenerette pumped in 22 points and
Kayla Linkous added a career-high 21 to lead the Lady Jackets to an impressive 75-54 win at Central State in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference finale.
The host Marauders scored the first basket of the game and Cedarville never trailed again. The Jackets enjoyed a 39-29 halftime lead, opened the second period with a 10-2 spurt, and so dominated the contest they built the margin to as much as 73-46 in the final minutes.
“We executed the game plan just as we wanted to,” stated Head Coach
Kirk Martin, whose team improved to 16-8 overall and 5-3 G-MAC. “We stressed that we needed to win rebounds and get in the gaps defensively. I'm really proud of my team.”
Jenerette scored 17 of her 22 markers in the first half. She hit 8-of-12 shots from the floor, including a pair of treys, and knocked down all four of her charity tosses.
Linkous, a freshman forward, ruled the inside game. She was 8-of-11 from the field and 5-for-7 at the line.
Raegan Ryan handed out five assists and
Lauryn Robinson pulled down nine rebounds. CU controlled the boards, 48-35.
CSU drops to 14-11 and 1-6 G-MAC.
